Welcome back! The Library is now operating under a Browse, Borrow & Go model at this time and observing our Summer Hours:

Mon-Thu: 10 am-8:30 pm
Fri-Sat: 10 am-5 pm
Sun: Closed

What will Library Services Look Like?

The library is following provincial and local guidelines for operating during the pandemic and has implemented a number of changes to enhance the safety of all of our users.

Your Safety

Your safety is our top priority. That's why you will see physical distancing and directional signage around the building. We are also limiting the number of people in the building at a time to ensure enough space for physical distancing. Please practice physical distancing and follow the signs and directions from staff when entering and using the building.

Please note that all visitors will be screened when entering the library. Persons who do not meet the screening criteria will be asked to access library services remotely.

All staff will be wearing masks. As per the directive from the Medical Officer of Health, all visitors to the Library must also wear a face covering while in the building, unless exempted. Hand sanitiser is available at various points throughout the building for you to use during your visit. We have also implemented enhanced cleaning protocols, and have installed barriers at service desks.

Please refrain from visiting the library if you are feeling unwell.

Please do not bring outside food or drink into the building at this time.

An off-limits area on the first floor has been set aside for quarantining returned materials. Please refrain from entering this area.


Available Services

Our Browse, Borrow & Go model allows you to access our library collections to find materials to check out and enjoy at home. Staff will be available to assist you in finding the items you are looking for, recommend titles for you to try, place holds, and welcome you back into our space!

All circulation services, including paying fines/fees, new and updated memberships, and checkout services are available.

NEW: Computer Services

The library has four Public Workstations and one Microfilm station available for public use. Printing and photocopying are also now available. Please note that due to building capacity limitations:

  • Registration is required - pre-booking your internet use is higly recommended. Please speak to staff at the adult information desk or call 519-539-4801 to book your time.
  • Computer use is limited to 45 minutes per day per patron.
  • Sessions begin on the hour and end 15 minutes before the hour - these end times are not adjustable.
  • Extensions are not permitted.
  • Express internet stations are not available at this time.

Can I Return Items to the Library?

Yes. All returns must be placed in the external book drop, which is open 24/7.


  • Put your loose library items in the outside chute (no bags or boxes).
  • Expect items to remain checked out on your card for at least one week while they are quarantined. No fines will accrue during quarantine time.
  • Keep your donations at home (for now!).
  • Check the library website frequently for updates.

Important Dates and FAQ


Wed, July 29: The library building reopens to the public at 10 am.

Wed. Oct 28: Limited Computer Services are now available



Are library materials "clean"? All materials in the library are being handled by staff using personal protective equipment. All materials returned to the library will be quarantined for the recommended period of time (one week) before they are checked in and re-shelved.

Are washrooms available? Yes. The public and accessible washrooms are available for use.

Will curbside pickup continue to be available? As we open our doors once again, we will be ending our curbside hold pickup service. However, if you require pickup service for health/accessibility concerns, please continue to call the library when your holds are ready and we will schedule a pick up time for you.

Are newspapers/study/leisure space available? No. Due to the limited number of patrons we can have in our space at any time, newspapers, study, and leisure spaces are not available. Furniture has been moved and covered. 

Are Library programs happening? YES! We are running dozens of programs right now, just in different ways. Check out the program section of our website for virtual storytimes, kids, teen, and adult programs, as well as Book Clubs and Storytimes! Traditional in-person library programs will return in the future when safe to do so.

Can I access technology help? We encourage patrons who are having challenges accessing our resources electronically to call the library (519-539-4801) during business hours for assistance, or email us your question through the comment form here. You can also Book A Librarian for one-on-one assistance.

When will Library Services go back to normal? The Library continues to follow the guidelines and recommendations made by the Province, Municipality, and local Health Unit. We will continue to add services based on those recommendations, however do not have a specific timeline in place.
