Monetary Donations

CanadaHelps.org giving made simple

The Woodstock Public Library is a registered charity under the Income Tax Act. Donations you make to Canadian registered charities may help reduce your income tax. To donate to the Library, please make checks payable to the Woodstock Public Library. An official tax receipt will be issued for all donations over $20.

Material Donations

The Woodstock Public Library accepts donations on an ongoing basis as space permits. Due to limited space, we have a one box limit. If you have a donation that exceeds one box, please contact the library at 519-539-4801 during regular business hours. 

The Library must pay to dispose of items that do not fit the acceptance criteria below. Please ensure donated items fit the criteria before dropping them off.

What is accepted:

  • Adult and Young Adult Fiction
  • Children's Picture Books
  • Large Print Books
  • Non-Fiction Books
  • Audiobooks
  • DVD's, Blu-Rays

What is not accepted:

  • Textbooks
  • Reader's Digest Condensed Books
  • Encyclopedias (individual or sets)
  • Outdated Atlases
  • Magazines
  • Books with outdated information
  • Computer software
  • CDs, VHS, Cassettes, Vinyl
  • Books that are damaged or in poor condition (worn, torn, underlined, highlighted, dusty, mouldy, yellowed)

The Woodstock Public Library assumes unconditional ownership of all donations and the disposition of these items. We do not issue tax receipts for donations. With limited exceptions, we do not add donated material to the collection. Donated materials are given to the Friends of the Woodstock Public Library and sold at book sales throughout the year. Funds raised help support value-added services and programs at the Library.
