As a library cardholder, it is your responsibility to return checked out material by its due date. A Date Due slip is generated following each check out which serves as the official notification of when materials are due back to the Library. As a courtesy, the Library offers email reminders as items are approaching their due date and overdue notices sent in both email and paper formats if items were not returned on their due date.
Signing up for Email Reminders
Signing up for email reminders and overdue notices is easy. Simply visit one of our Circulation Desks or phone the Library and let us know your email address. Be sure that it is an email address that you check regularly, and to ensure that the notices will not be trapped by a spam filter, add our email address This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to your accepted list of contacts. As with any address, please notify the Library immediately if your email address changes.
Reminders By Email
If we have your email address, we will send you two (2) email reminders: one will be sent 3 days before the item is due and the second will be sent on the day the item is due. These reminders can help you keep track of your due dates, and renew or return material before items become overdue.
Overdue Notices By Email
If we have your email address, we will email you two (2) overdue notices: one will be sent 5 days after the item is due and the second will be sent 12 days after the item is due. Any further notices will be paper notices sent by mail.
Overdue Notices by Mail
We will notify all customers without email addresses by mail. The first mailed overdue notice will be sent if an item is overdue for more than 14 days. A second overdue notice will be mailed if an item remains overdue for more than 21 days.
Final Notices
A Final Notice will be mailed to all customers if an item remains overdue for more than 36 days. The Final Notice will include a bill for the missing item plus a processing fee. Items returned after a final notice is issues will have the replacement cost of the item removed, however the processing fee will remain.
Collection Agency
If items remain overdue for more than 60 days, the Library reserves the right to refer customers to an outside collection agency to assist in recouping material and fees.
